Why should you become a swimming instructor?
Becoming a swimming instructor can make a real difference in people's lives. It is both fun and rewarding and you don’t even need to have a swimming background.
If you enjoy the water and love working with children, then swimming instructing could be the career for you.
At Swim Plus we are always looking for new swimming instructors. Swimming instructors that have a passion and patients for teaching children and adults.
Minimum age to become a swimming instructor is 16 years.
No previous experience is needed
What qualifications do I need to become a swimming instructor?
Below is the qualifications that are needed to become a swimming instructor and the organisations to seek assistance from to help your gain your qualification in South Australia.
A Swimming and Water Safety Teacher accreditation
Once gained this qualification must be renewed every 3 years. There are opportunities to expand your accreditation including Infant and Preschool Aquatics, Teacher of Adults, Teacher of competitive strokes and Teacher of Aquatics-Access and Inclusion.
Active Training
Royal Lifesaving Society Australia
AUSTSWIM
A CPR Certificate (HLTAID009)
This certificate must be updated annually.
First Aid Training Adelaide CBD
First Aid Pro
St Johns Ambulance SA
Working with Children Check
Anyone working or volunteering with children in South Australia by law must have this check. The WWCC needs to be updated every 5 years. You can apply for a Working with Children’s check here.
Customer Service and Cafe
As a CSO at Norwood Swim School you are the first face our customers see and we want it to be a happy, knowledgeable, approachable and friendly one.
We will take the time to train you in all aspects of customer service, including answering our phones and emails, gaining in-depth knowledge of our programs and the Swim Shop.
Prior knowledge of our program will be looked upon favourably.
